The women at the Gail Women's Sewing Center have been busy learning how to sew Pakistani dresses and master the detailed handwork done on wedding gowns. The traditional clothing is called salwar kameez and consists of a dress worn over baggy draw stringed pants or stringht legged pants. The wedding gowns are quite ornate and sell for $250.00; a child's dress is $80.00. If you would like to orderone, you may contact Bishop Raza at [email protected] For photos of the dresses and handwork, please go to the Photo section of the Welcome Jesus Church website.
The sewing center needs financial support to purchase fabric, sewing machines, and other supplies for making dresses. We also need Pakistani or Indian teachers who are knowledgable about making the clothing. Please contact Bishop Raza if you are interested.
